Cross country running is a sport in which our learners and teams run a race on open-air courses and paths over natural terrain.  The courses, normally 4-6km, may include grass, tar and gravel road.  Both boys and girls of all ages compete in cross country races, which usually take place during autumn and winter.

The Die Wilge cross country team has been in action this term with races in the ATHLETICS CENTRAL NORTH WEST Mainstream Cross-Country league. The league races have been going very well with a number of high finishing positions and great team performances particularly with the boys U/15,U/16 and U/17 team.

Leading performers have been:

Tefo Moloto
Mpho Ndakane
Kamogelo Dasoi
Lefa Molefe
Bradley Moabi
Boitumelo Tshabalala
Mosa Mutle

We travelled to Ottosdal, Wolmaransstad, Klerksdorp, Fochville and two events in Potchefstroom. We had many strong individual performances. All the events were building up to the final event where there were a North West team selected that will participate in the South African Championships on 7 September 2019 in Centurion.

Those athletes performing well are the ones that train regularly. All children are welcome to attend cross country practices during sport activity periods. The sport requires dedication, discipline and an endless amount of determination.

At the Wolmaransstad meeting all our athletes received a pair of tekkies and we received 15 cross country t-shirts that was issued by the community in Potchefstroom. Thanks to athletes people that opened their hearts for our children!

Congratulations to each of our cross-country athletes who performed exceptionally well during the season. Thanks to all the teachers that contributed time and energy during the season.

Best of luck to the LSEN cross-country season!

P.S. Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
