country running is a sport in which our learners
and teams run a race on open-air courses and
paths over natural terrain. The courses,
normally 4-6km, may include grass, tar and
gravel road. Both boys and girls of all ages
compete in cross country races, which usually
take place during autumn and winter.
Die Wilge cross country team has been in action
this term with races in the ATHLETICS CENTRAL
NORTH WEST Mainstream Cross-Country league. The
league races have been going very well with a
number of high finishing positions and great
team performances particularly with the boys
U/15,U/16 and U/17 team.

We travelled to Ottosdal, Wolmaransstad,
Klerksdorp, Fochville and two events in

Cross Country: Report 2017:
Cross country forms an integral part of most
Sports and series as a stamina base. Our
coaching staff consists of mrs Kruger and mr
Brits. We are grateful for each learners effort
and try to develop them to their full potential
and enhance their self-esteem. We had two
competitive races during August and September,
after which a Provincial team was chosen to
compete in Kimberley, on the 30th of September.
During the event our Girls u/16, Boys u/15, u/17
and u/19 won bronze and silver medals
